 2011 Yunomi Invitational

The two pieces below are part of my selection of five yunomi that will be included in this year’s AKAR Gallery 2011 Yunomi Invitational. This is an invitational that features 200 ceramicists, each providing 5 yunomi…and that’s a lot of tea cups! The gallery is located in Iowa City, IA, my old graduate school stomping ground (U of IA). Pieces can be viewed and purchased on-line, and you have to be registered to log in and make purchases. This exhibition runs 3/25/2011 – 4/4/2011. AKAR’s web site is http://www.akardesign.com/

On the Trail @ Stop # 3, Donna McGee

Best things about today: Flat Stanley came on the Pottery Trail! Also, Zoe Lewis stopped in. Her beautiful music was playing and she brought a lovely bouquet. The weather was perfect, and so was everyone who came. All so happy!

Bottom Wiping for Open Studios

bottom wiping

Getting ready for open studios next week involves a lot of glazing–and a lot of bottom wiping.  Yesterday between work and Henry (my 8-month-old son), I wiped quite a few bottoms.  Both are rewarding in different ways!  For details on Cottage Street Open Studios (June 6-7 in Easthampton, MA) visit www.cottagestreetstudios.com –Evelyn at Kaleidoscope Pottery

Fresh leaves and Open Studios

Fresh maples are finally available!

Fresh maples are finally available!

My first blog post here from Kaleidoscope Pottery land.  We’ve been working with fresh leaves for a few weeks now–finally!  It was a long winter using leaves from the freezer.  Currently getting ready for our annual Cottage Street Studios Spring Open Studios  June 6-7 (see www.cottagestreetstudios.com for details).  Still enough time to get some pots through the kilns by then! –Evelyn
