My question is how does one become a member of a pottery guild? Another question is what other pottery guilds are available in the Western MA area?
    Thank you,

      Hello Karen,

I don’t know of any other guilds in western MA.

To be in our guild you are invitied in by one of the potters, and the whole group juries your work. You must be a full time working potter.

    Big Mike:
I was surfing the web and came across the Asparagus Valley Potters Guild web site.
Your history lesson of how the guild began brought back fond memories of that dinner and the great times we had sharing our experiences as potters together.
I am one of those who have since moved away and gone into another profession. But Amherst and the life I had has a potter will never be far from my fondest of memories in my life.
Ceramics is still in my blood and is part of a product line that my company CDI International Inc. is involved with in addition to Stainless, and Acrylic drinkware.
Hope everyone is ok and say an special hello to Wonder Woo for me.

It was so nice to see you. that must be a year ago.
The Asparagus Valley Potters Guild will be 35 years old in July!
The Guild has spun off a Pottery Trail. 10 open studios with about 14 different potters. This will Trail #6 in May
      Stay well,

Kent Stabilit, A year ago? Must be confusing me with another Kent.
The dinner I was talking about was 35 years ago.
Remember Pat Barnard I built her a kiln and several others in the area, and started Stabilit Stoneware.
I sold my studio, took a job with a ceramic decal company in the Philadelphia area.
        A long time ago.
My daughter went to UMass years later and during one of our visits stopped by your studio to purchase some tiles.
Congratulations on keeping the guild together all these years.
        Best Regards,

    Hi Kent,
I knew you were talking about the first meeting that started the Guild.
I was talking about last year, when were in Amherst and dropped in to say hello.

Very impressive web site and business. Looks like really good products and design diversity.
